The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak is in thousands while confirmed cases in mainland China alone stand at over 70,000, at least by the time of this writing.

As the number of victims continues to increase, the rest of the globe, where about 700 cases have already been highlighted in multiple countries, is beginning to feel the impacts of the outbreak, among them a series of cancellations for major events.

Tech enthusiasts must have already heard about the called-off MWC 2020 show, but that’s not the only major event to be affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today, the GSMA has cancelled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event.

Plenty of other plans have also been shattered by the epidemic, among them smartphone software release schedules, more so the latest Android 10 OS, for various Chinese OEMs.

We have in the recent past highlighted cases of delayed updates for Realme, Xiaomi, and even OnePlus devices. To add to the party, Vivo has also revealed that its anticipated Funtouch OS 10 update may also delay due to the coronavirus situation back at home.

For the uninitiated, Vivo’s Funtouch 10 OS is baked based on Android 10 OS. The company has now been forced to abandon its original Android 10 timeline in favor of something new.

As it stands, Funtouch OS 10 (Android 10) will be released towards the end of March 2020 for the likes of Vivo “NEX 3 series, X27 series, NEX, NEX screen fingerprint version, NEX flagship version, NEX dual-screen version, and other models.”

For now, this is the best we have, but we expect much finer details about the availability of the software not just in China, but also in other global markets where Vivo devices are also sold.
