Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

If you are looking for a new browser, Vivaldi might be the one for you. The free cross platform browser is developed by Vivaldi Technologies and is based on Chromium.

As of September last year, it had more than 2.3 million active users. Featuring a minimalistic user interface combined with a dynamic color scheme, users can easily customize the overall look according to their preferences.

Moreover, it also comes with a built-in ad-blocking solution, saving the time to search for an extension. Inspired by Opera, the browser has a ‘speed dial’ page that can be used to access websites quickly.

Another useful feature includes the ability to install and use both Firefox and Chrome extensions. That said, developers recently released the 5.2 update that fixed existing bugs and introduced new features.

But soon after Vivaldi 5.2 update, user started complaining (1,2,3) that the browser is crashing or closing. While some say the app only crashes when trying to use the new reading list features, others say the problem is affecting them even while browsing.

Very straightforward, I can’t do anything with my vivaldi at the moment because it doesn’t want to open, the only thing that’s working for now are the private windows, but settings don’t seems to work even when in private mode. Yesterday my browser worked fine, but today it decided to stop working. For now I’ve tried : restarting my pc, manually update vivaldi in case it could fix the issue, using private mode to access settings (but doesn’t work like said earlier).

Hello, The problem you describe has nothing to do with Spotify, I have the same problem of closing the browser abruptly on certain pages and on forms (search, username or password…) that have appeared suddenly since update 5.2.2623.24 on April 07, 2022. This is a major bug that needs to be fixed quickly!

Thankfully, Vivaldi developers have acknowledged the crashing issue after the 5.2 update and said it will be fixed in the next version. However, they did not share any ETA on when the patch will be out.

Sorry about this! And also thanks for reporting. This is a known issue, already looked into, and fixed for the next update. 🙂
