Carrier versions of smartphones often lag behind their unlocked counterparts in terms of receiving updates. Be it the lengthy certification process or the unwilling carriers – the delay is real.

There are some exceptions as well. For example, AT&T and Verizon Galaxy Note 10 family recently received the stable Android 10 update before the carrier unlocked model. A couple of Motorola phones are now following the same path.

Moto G6

The Verizon variant of Moto g6 received the October patch at the beginning of this month. Call it a surprise, but the December patch is now available.

This is the 7th update that the Moto g6 is receiving under Verizon. The changelog of the new software version (PDSS29.118-15-11-5) is quite generic though, but what do you expect from such a mid-ranger?

Moto G7 Power

The ‘Power’ variant of Moto G7 is also gettings its fourth system update from Verizon. This update brings with it the December Android security patch update and bumps up the software version of this phone to PDOS29.114-134-7.

Similar to Motorola One Power, this phone is all about a humongous 5,000 mAh battery. The Snapdragon 632 SoC falls short compared to other phones in the price category.

Verizon decided to skip the November patch for Moto G7 Power. The unlocked variants of other Moto G7 phones are entitled for December patch as well.
