Valorant players unhappy with Episode 7 ‘rank’ reset

However, the recent Episode 7 ‘rank’ reset has left several Valorant players feeling unhappy and dissatisfied (1,2,3,4,5,6).

Their primary complaint is that the reset is excessively punitive, forcing players to grind through lower ranks once again.

This can be disheartening for those who have invested considerable time and effort to reach higher ranks, only to be thrown back into the sweaty lobbies where competition is fierce.

The reset also gives rise to another issue: weaker players being matched against stronger opponents. As the ranks are compressed during the reset, the matchmaking system often pairs players of varying skill levels together.

This leads to an imbalance in matches, where less experienced players frequently find themselves facing off against more skilled adversaries.

The problem is for example I ended d2 and got reset to p1 after winning 4/5 matches. However when im going to be climbing out of “plat lobbies” it’s still going up against diamonds and asc but in plat lobbies

ended dia 1, won 3 placements with really good KD, 13-1, 13-4, 13-7. drawed one 1 game, i was 37-14 kd iirc, and then lost one game 13-6. placed gold 3. i’m not confused just a little surprised i didn’t at least stay plat. last episode i went from ending g1 to s1 so i was surprised at this drop

Consequently, these matches become increasingly difficult, resulting in a higher frequency of losses for lower-ranked players.

While discontent is prevalent, some players argue that the rank reset is not necessarily a bad thing. They contend that it provides an incentive to keep playing the game to regain the rank they held before the reset.

For these players, the journey to reclaim their former rank offers a renewed sense of achievement and satisfaction.

Additionally, advocates of the rank reset believe that it provides an opportunity for players to find a level they are comfortable with.

By starting from a lower rank, players who felt stuck or overwhelmed in higher ranks can now find their footing and enjoy a more balanced gameplay experience.

While the rank reset does have its merits, it is apparent that some players find the current implementation too harsh and discouraging.

Riot should consider striking a balance between creating a fresh competitive environment and respecting the progress and efforts of its player base.
