Formerly known as Uplay, Ubisoft Connect is an application developed by Ubisoft that brings the majority of games developed by the company in a single window.

Apart from acting as a launcher for games, it is also a storefront where players can buy Ubisoft titles. While the app is quite stable, users recently said they were getting a ‘product cannot be activated’ error when trying to play on Geforce Now.

Adding to the trouble, players are now complaining (1,2,3,4,5) about Ubisoft Connect having high CPU usage. Many say the problem is making it impossible to play any title since the app is hogging up all resources.

Some say they tried reinstalling the app but it is not helping either. Below are a few reports from Ubisoft Connect users complaining about high CPU usage.

Ubi, do I need to get a 16core CPU so now I can handle the game? The game runs a nice 50-65% and the ubi connectorS are taking 40%. My CPU is a bit old but c’mom… (I7 6700K )… a few weeks ago I was able to play at 120fps with most settings on the mid, now everything is on low and I see dips as low as 40fps. fix that crap it is unplayable

For the last couple of days, I think ever since the game was offline for half a day or so, I’ve noticed that the Ubisoft Connect app is eating up a lot of CPU usage in the task manager. Actually it’s two tasks, Ubisoft connect app and Ubisoft Connect websomething. They both use between 8% and 15%. It’s not always the case, sometimes restarting the game fixes it for a bit but then it starts again. Doe anyone know why this is happening and if there’s a way to fix it, because it causes my game to stutter and makes my FPS drop.

As it turns out, Ubisoft Support has commented on the high CPU usage issue with Ubisoft Connect and said the problem is currently under investigation.

Hi there, the team is investigating similar reports of high CPU usage while running Rainbow Six Siege. Does this persist if you disable the Ubisoft Connect overlay? >> https://ubi.li/Wgk1v

Some users pointed out that the problem happens because of the Ubisoft Connect overlay and said disabling the overlay helped with the severity of the issue.

In case you are wondering how to disable the overlay, open Ubisoft Connect, head over to settings, and uncheck the overlay option. If you are still unsure, see the image below.

Another workaround involves setting the Ubisoft Connect process priority to low using Windows Task Manager.

Ubisoft Connect WEB CORE Using too much CPU Fixed: Open you task manager > Details (at the top) > find : upc.exe > (right click) set priority > below normal [][][] do this for UplayWebCore.exes that take more than 35,000K memory

We hope the developers soon figure out why Ubisoft Connect is having high CPU usage and fix the problem in the coming days.
