TWRP custom recovery isn’t new to any seasoned modder out there. Matter of fact, TWRP is the go-to custom recovery tool for anyone looking to install a custom ROM of any kind to their devices.
The fact that TWRP, like Android itself, is open-source has helped propel its popularity across the board. To make it even better, the folks at TeamWin keep adding new features alongside support for more devices.
In the latest attempt to bring more devices on board, TWRP support has now expanded to accommodate an additional 10+ devices from Xiaomi, Nokia, Realme, and Motorola.
Over the past few weeks, official TWRP support has arrived on multiple Xiaomi smartphones namely Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, otherwise known as Redmi K20 Pro in India, the Mi 9T, also known as Redmi K20 in India, and the standard Mi 9.
Official TWRP support is also available for the Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 8T, and Redmi 8 as well. For Realme, only the X2 Pro has been added while Motorola has the Moto E4 (Snapdragon) joining the party too.
The Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 got official TWRP support a while back and now joining them is the Nokia 7.1. However, you might not want to get too excited with the Nokia devices due to the bootloader restrictions involved.
Once you have installed TWRP on your supported Android phone, the next thing is to find a suitable custom ROM you wish to try and install it. In case you are wondering, the XDA Developers is a good place to start hunting for such custom ROMs.
