Twitter video player 'stuttering, freezing or reducing video quality' on web for several users

Just like other social media apps, Twitter has a media player that enables users to view and share videos right from the app or website.

It gives you a range of settings and controls to improve your viewing experience like the play/pause button, volume control functionality, full-screen mode, and more.

However, it’s been quite erratic for quite some time for a number of users like other glitches (1,2,3) that we usually see with the platform.

Twitter users (1,2,3,4,5,6) have been complaining that the platform’s video player is not functioning properly. The videos keep getting stuck for no apparent reason or cutting off repeatedly while being played.

I can’t even consistently watch a 2 minute video without twitter’s video player stuttering, freezing, or out right refusing to play the video. How about you fix your fucking video player first instead of worrying about 2 hour long videos that no one is going to watch.

According to some users, the compression method is also highly severe at times and it doesn’t make sense to watch longer videos on Twitter.

Elon Musk had recently announced that verified subscribers could upload 2 hour long video. But users are convinced that the video player isn’t optimized for it and even refuses to play any resolution higher than 144p.

Apart from that, it also reduces the quality of the videos on Twitter significantly. Moreover, we even highlighted a number of issues with the TikTok-style video player earlier as well.

Unfortunately, there has been no acknowledgment of the issue where Twitter video player keeps freezing and stuttering on web.

So, fixing the video player is now more crucial than ever considering Musk recently acknowledged an increase in the size (8GB) and maximum length of movies on Twitter.
