Twitter Spaces is a feature that lets you have live audio conversations on the platform. One can kick-start an audio conversation by simply tapping ‘+’ button on the home page and tapping the purple mic icon.

And if you want to join someone else’s Space conversation, it’ll show up at the top of your timeline in form of a purple bubble. You just need to click on the Space you want to join and you’re in.

Twitter Spaces not working or showing up

However, it appears that a section of users is having issues accessing Twitter Spaces as they report that Spaces aren’t showing up for them in the normal search bar with a purple bubble.

Furthermore, users are also facing various other issues such as speakers cannot use emojis, guests are unable to request to speak or leave the space, and speaker panel is invisible.

@TwitterSupport can y’all do something about the spaces they not showing up at the top, won’t let me up to speak or use the emojis, I can only listen, even when the host sends me a speaker it don’t work. And the space is blank when you finally do get in. (Source)

When I click on the microphone to search for spaces, I don’t see any spaces at all. The space banner on my homepage is not visible. My follower shared me his space, I couldn’t enter from iPhone. But I could only enter from Mac laptop as listen only mode. @Twitter @TwitterSupport (Source)

Elon Musk has responded to a user complaint regarding Twitter Spaces and asked what sorts of issues they are facing. And while the many users have shared their problems, further response from the Twitter owner is awaited.

Regrettably, we haven’t come across any workaround that might help you fix the issue with Twitter Spaces. That means, you’ll have to wait until devs come up with a definitive fix.

That said, we will keep an eye out on the latest development regarding Twitter Spaces and inform you as and when we come across anything noteworthy.

Update 1 (December 6, 2022)

10:54 am (IST): Responding to one of those affected, Elon Musk has confirmed that the recent issue with Twitter Spaces has now been resolved.

Update 2 (December 16, 2022)

12:12 pm (IST): Some users are now speculating (1, 2) that Elon Musk shut down Spaces. However, it could also be due to overload the Spaces aren’t showing up.

01:14 pm (IST): Elon Musk has informed users that they are currently fixing a Legacy bug and issues with Spaces should be fixed until tomorrow.

Update 3 (December 21, 2022)

11:29 am (IST): Responding to a user’s complaint regarding the Spaces stability issues, Elon Musk has confirmed that they are currently looking into it.

Update 4 (December 23, 2022)

02:20 pm (IST): According to reports, some users are facing issues with Twitter Spaces for past few hours. However, there’s no indication of any widespread outage.

Update 5 (January 6, 2023)

10:14 am (IST): A section of users are reporting that Twitter Spaces is not working or is down for them.

It’s likely that the feature will be up and running soon. But we’ll have to wait and see.

08:20 pm (IST): The lack of fresh reports on the issue suggest that it has been resolved for most users, if not all.

Update 6 (July 25, 2023)

02:45 pm (IST): Some Twitter users are getting a ‘Details not available’ error message in ‘Spaces’ previews (1, 2).

Update 7 (July 27, 2023)

09:30 am (IST): Twitter Spaces are now showing correctly in previews.
