New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 11, 2022) follows:

As the new Twitter owner, Elon Musk seems inclined towards revamping the platform to its core. The most talked about feature is undoubtedly the Twitter Blue subscription.

It is a premium subscription service that gets you a blue verified check mark to your account and offers early access to features like tweet editing.

This service was first launched in Canada and Australia before expanding to the US and New Zealand last year priced at $2.99 per month. But ever since Elon Musk bought Twitter, the same feature is now priced at $7.99/month.

This has seemingly become quite off-putting, and many users are now considering unsubscribing to the over-charged service.

Twitter Blue subscription canceling

Those who were using the older version will still be able to enjoy the promised benefits without paying the new Twitter Blue price, but they won’t get the verification checkmark.

The older Twitter Blue won’t be available to current non-subscribers. That means people are either left with the option of paying for the newer version that comes at an elevated price or unsubscribe from the existing one.

However, this has paved way for much confusion and skepticism for those looking forward to subscribing to the new Twitter Blue with an existing version. You can check out some of the reports below:

@TwitterBlue @TwitterSupport Can someone fix this? I can’t sub to the new membership to be verified because my $5 plan won’t cancel until December 4 even after I found the charger to my iphone 6S so I could sub to twitter blue from iOS

It seems that people will have to first cancel their older subscription and wait for the time period to expire in order to sign up for the new Twitter Blue.

However, there are also some people who just don’t like the new Twitter Blue and want to cancel it so that they don’t have to pay for it again.

In that case, users will have to manage their subscriptions from Twitter Blue settings.

If you subscribe to the new Twitter Blue and cancel your subscription, your blue checkmark will remain until the end of the subscription term you paid for, unless your account is suspended or the blue checkmark is otherwise removed by Twitter for any reason.

To make matters worse, some users are also struggling to keep up with the impersonators who are seemingly taking undue advantage of the verification badge which has resultantly led them to cancel their Twitter Blue subscription.

Steps to unsubscribe Twitter Blue

So, all of these reasons have prompted many users to cancel their Twitter Blue subscription.

It should be noted that cancelations are carried out through the platform that was used at the time of buying the subscription. You can check it out below:
