Twitter Blue is a paid service that offers users various perks such as undo tweets, bookmark folders, reader mode, custom app icons, and dedicated customer support.
The service costs $114.99 per year for iOS and Android in the US and is now available globally.
Twitter Blue also allows users to upload videos up to 2GB in size and 60 minutes long.
2GB limit restrictive
However, some users still found the 2GB size limit too restrictive, especially when compared to other platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo, which allow much larger file sizes (1,2,3).
While 2GB is a significant improvement from the previous limit of 512MB and 10 minutes for regular users, it’s still not enough even for 1080p videos.
So, Twitter Blue users have to sacrifice the quality of their content as they are forced to upload within the limit. Luckily, things are going to change very soon.
Twitter Blue 5GB video upload size limit
Elon Musk has announced that a Twitter update next week will bump up the video upload size limit to 5GB for Blue subscribers:
This change is aimed at attracting more video content creators to the platform, who can now share longer and higher quality videos with their followers.
This is another part of Elon Musk’s continuous efforts to diversify Twitter revenue streams and offer more value to its users.
