Twitter accounts suspended or features being temporarily limited for violating spam policy

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7), multiple Twitter users are facing an issue where their accounts are getting suspended for violating spam policy or rules.

In addition to this, the features of some accounts are being temporarily limited as well.

Users allege that on opening the Twitter app, they receive a notification stating that their account has violated the platform’s spam rules. It also stated that the account would be limited for a period of three days.

However, they are surprised to be getting such a message even after using the platform fairly. One of those affected says that they just use Twitter to post content, and retweet or like other people’s posts.

They also claim to have only blocked a few annoying accounts that kept appearing on their feed, which is undoubtedly not a spam or suspicious activity.

It has also been mentioned that they get a ‘This looks like you are using automated tools’ error after liking some posts consecutively.

Another user adds that apart from Elon Musk’s official ID, they haven’t blocked any ads or verified accounts.

And on submitting an appeal about the problem, they received an automated response stating that it may take 5-7 business days for a review.

Where do I go to appeal this? I didn’t even get an email about it. It simply flashed a message that disappeared, but I managed to get a screenshot. I swear to god he breaks a new thing every day on the damn website.

If Twitter wanted to limit that then they should do, there is no need to label that as spam or disable other functionality like “likes”. In any case retweeting something once an hour (20x a day) is certainly not excessive.

Some even assert that the problem has affected a large number of accounts, as people are reporting it constantly. Those affected are now requesting Twitter to fix this glitch as soon as possible.

Official acknowledgment

Fortunately, a member of Twitter’s design team has officially acknowledged this issue and confirmed support is currently working on fixing it. Although no official ETA for the bug fix has been provided.
