Twitch subscriptions, gift subs & Bits getting canceled or expired for some; issue acknowledged

Twitch is one of the leading live-streaming platforms mostly used by gamers to showcase their gameplay. In addition to this, it is also used to broadcast creative content, esports competitions, music, and much more.

The platform also allows users to subscribe to their favorite streamers and support them. However, some are unhappy with recent issues affecting subscriptions, gift subs and bits.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple Twitch subscribers are facing an issue where the subscriptions are getting canceled or expired on their own.

Users are allegedly getting notified on their email IDs that they are no longer subscribed to their favorite streamers.

But to their surprise, these subscriptions keep getting terminated even after one re-subscribes to different streamers, time and again. Luckily, users are being refunded the payment amount by the company.

Some even claim that their subscription expired for the first time in years. But to add to their troubles, they are now unable to re-subscribe to their favorite streamers.

This is understandably frustrating for users as earlier memberships would auto-renew on their own unless one unsubscribed. But now, even with manual intervention, they cannot get them renewed.

And this is undeniably saddening for all those whose membership have been canceled earlier than the due date as well.

My twitch subscriptions have been getting cancelled. I got three emails saying I cancelled my subscription.

However, the troubles don’t end up here.

Some Twitch users (1,2,3,4,5,6) also complain that their gifted subscriptions and Bits are getting cancelled as well.

One of those affected says that they have just received partial refund for the Bits they had purchased in the month of April.

Another user alleges that seven of their transactions and two gifted subscriptions got canceled recently.

@Google @GooglePlay @GoogleUK What is going on?! Today you retroactively refunded a @Twitch bits purchase I made on April 5th, 2 things. I’m concerned that the streamer will get in trouble with Twitch for this.

Every sub/ gift sub since April 1st is getting refunded and im being unsubbed from the channels each time it happens.

After some investigation, it was found out that payments did not reflect on the Twitch account due to an outage in the company’s payment system.

Luckily, the Twitch support team is aware of the issue and is currently working on fixing it. Although, no official ETA for the bug fix has been provided. Those affected can also provide additional details related to the bug here.
