Twitch is the go-to place for millions interested in streaming or watching other people play video games. The Amazon-owned live-streaming platform has grown tremendously in the last few years.

Unsurprisingly, Twitch’s revenue amounted to more than $2.3 billion in 2020, with reports suggesting that it is set to grow in the coming years.

But like the majority of online streaming services, users do encounter bugs and issues such as the app crashing on Fire TV, Xbox and PlayStation and buffering issues on PlayStation 4.

Having said that, Twitch users are now complaining (1,2,3,4,5) that the chat keeps disconnecting or freezing on the mobile app.

Users say they have already tried generic solutions such as reinstalling the app and clearing data and cache but to no avail.

Twitch is Twitch, and this is that. But the app is bad. Almost never remembers where I am at when watching VODs if I don’t watch the whole thing in one. Live chat freezes and doesn’t update by itself. The app bugs out if I cast while my phone is landscape. If I pause a video to go get a drink or something it times out, which is a probem because it doesn’t remember where I’m at in the video.

New updates since end of February have broken the app completely. The miniviewer cuts off the screen. Chat disconnects randomly. Switching between miniviewer to full app can cause the video box to become unresponsive. No longer can use the app in audio mode if the phone is locked.

Fortunately, Twitch Support commented on the issue and said they have escalated the problem where chat keeps disconnecting or freezing on the mobile app for investigation.
