Ting Mobile won't set up Google Account 2-step verification ('Sorry, we can't fulfill this request at this time')? Try these workarounds

Ting Mobile is an American mobile virtual network operator that was founded in 2012. It is a part of Dish Wireless. The network provider makes use of the T-Mobile network and is known for providing cheap plans.

That being said, Ting supports devices that are compatible with Sprint CDMA, T-Mobile GSM, and Verizon CDMA. The company sells devices on its website which can then be activated by entering the electronic serial number.

However, some Ting Mobile subscribers are now reporting that they are unable to set up 2 step verification on their Google account using the phone number.

Many say that they are getting a “Sorry, we can’t fulfill this request at this time. Please try again later or use a different phone number” error when they try to do so.

With Google hell-bent on enforcing 2 step verification for users in the near future, this might be a problem for those who are unable to set it up.

same here! I tried a month ago when prompted, then gave up. Try again today when I receive the email prompt about it being ‘forced’ come 6 Nov 2021 however, still receiving the …. ‘sorry we cant fulfil…’ (received at the ‘almost there, add a backup option’ stage, as others have mentioned in this forum query). For the record, I tried entering my partner mobile number so that, I might recevied the text to his phone, as an alternative if my phone – with 2-step verification set up – becomes lost.

Same problem. Get the “Sorry, can’t fulfill this request” when I try to get a text sent to my phone. It’s my only number. Is there any other way to get verification; a back up email? What happens if it can’t get set up by Nov 9th? What happens then? Will I be blocked from access to my account which is tied to everything from home to work?

In case you have recently switched your phone number and are unable to change the number, you might have to wait up to 7 days and try again. Also, Google might use the old number in case you recently changed it.

Fortunately, a Google Community Diamond Product Expert has shared a workaround that seems to have fixed the issue for some of those affected.

Please try the suggestions which seem to have worked for others:
1. Follow the steps to download the “backup codes” first and then check if you are able to set up backup phone numbers for 2SV.
2. Check if clicking the SEND button over and over (multiple times) eventually works.
