Original story (published on January 3, 2023) follows:

The Creator Fund was introduced by TikTok in July 2020 enabling users to make money by gaining views. This program was introduced with the aim of compensating users with sizeable engagement.

The fund encourages TikTok’s ‘best and brightest talent’ to keep creating and disseminating content to its fans.

TikTok ‘invalid country’ error

However, some TikTok users (1,2,3,4,5) have taken to various social media platforms to report an issue where they have been getting an ‘invalid country’ error while applying for Creator Fund.

When I try to apply for the Creator Fund, says invalid country but I live in the US. Anyone knows the issue???

It seems that the issue is not recent and has been troubling users for quite some time now (1,2,3,4). And even after fulfilling the eligibility criteria for the fund, it keeps giving them an error message.

People who made their accounts in non-eligible countries and later moved to the supported nations are still facing such issues.

This is incredibly frustrating because they are unable to access the program in order to withdraw the funds.

Official word from TikTok support

TikTok has acknowledged the issue and said that the team is working towards resolving it.
