04:34 pm (IST): There are people who are even stopping using TikTok after the change where their following tab is missing or replaced by the Shop tab.

Update 5 (September 15, 2023)

12:33 pm (IST): It seems that the ‘Following page’ hasn’t disappeared, rather its location has been changed. So, it’s possible that TikTok team is trying UI redesigns right now, however this is just a speculation.

Update 4 (September 13, 2023)

01:02 pm (IST): Some users claim that their algorithm has gotten worse, and they no longer receive recommendations that match their preferences. They also claim that they have lost the Following page.

Update 3 (September 8, 2023)

05:33 pm (IST): More users are reporting that their Following page is missing, being replaced by the Shop tab (1, 2, 3).

Other users confirm that uninstalling and reinstalling the app causes the Following tab to temporarily return to its place, but it will be replaced again shortly after. This indicates that it is a server-side change (1, 2).

05:20 pm (IST): Some TikTok users report that their Following page disappeared and was replaced by the Shop tab (1, 2).

For a few years now, short video-based multimedia platforms have exploded in popularity. As of today, TikTok is one of the most popular short video services in the world.

The short video-based platform trend started several years ago with Vine. Later, multiple social and multimedia services created their own section for this type of content.

For instance, there is Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and even the discontinued Twitter Fleets. However, TikTok remains at the top of the rankings, and with a constantly growing popularity.

That said, currently many TikTok users are facing issues with the service as the ‘Following page’ is suddenly not showing or disappeared (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12). However, there is a potential solution.

As its name suggests, the Following page shows a list of the TikTok accounts you are following.

Just the “FOR YOU” tab on TikToc…..How do I get my “Following” tab back on my home page?

I only have the “FOR YOU” tab on my home page and can not view any content from followers. Any idea why gang? Anyone know how I can correct this? Cheers.

Same problem here. Tried all the usual troubleshooting recommendations like emptying my cache, etc. but no dice. It’s especially annoying because once I start following someone their videos pretty much never show up in my fyp, so the only way I see their videos is through the following page.

No official acknowledgment yet

At the moment, there is no official acknowledgment on the issue from the TikTok team. However, some users point out that a complete uninstall and reinstall of the app helped to resolve it.

I had the same problem all I did was uninstall and reinstall the app. It fixed for me.
