New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on Jan. 27, 2023) follows:

When Wear OS 3 was announced back at the I/O 2021, Google confirmed that a few devices would be upgraded to the new OS. Among these were Mobvoi’s TicWatch Pro 3, TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, and TicWatch E3.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 was the first device to feature the OS followed by the Montblanc Summit 3 in June 2021 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 two months later.

And while most current smartwatches with Wear OS 3 came pre-installed with it, the Fossil Gen 6 family is the only one to have received the OS as an OTA update.

However, Mobvoi did not release the promised updates for their premium watches, a situation that hasn’t seen any changes as of this writing.

A user contacted their support team regarding the same on July 3, 2022. At the time, they got a response stating that the TicWatch Pro 3 should be running the latest OS by the end of the year.

Another concerned user took up this matter with the company once again, about 4 months ago. And similarly, they were assured that the update would be released later in the year.

However, the update never arrived as per the 2022 deadline, something that is raising concerns among eligible TicWatch owners.

Official response

On October 29, 2022, Mobvoi released an official statement saying that the Wear OS 3 update was still in the works. However, no ETA for the update’s release was provided.

Until now, the company has not released the updates and has also kept mum on the subject. Needless to say, this casual approach is indeed frustrating and annoying for some.

But we do hope that Mobvoi releases the TicWatch Wear OS 3 update for its smart wearables soon. That said, we will keep tabs on the issue and update the article as and when the update begins rolling out.

Update 1 (Apr. 5, 2023)

05:15 pm (IST): The company has announced that the update for the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra and TicWatch E3 will arrive in Q3 2023. According to the statement, the TicWatch Pro 3 does not appear to be included.

Update 2 (Apr. 17, 2023)

12:50 pm (IST): Users unhappy with the situation have started a signature campaign through Change.org demanding Wear OS 3 for the Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS and Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra.

As we mentioned earlier (‘Update 1’), the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra looks set to receive the latest Google OS for wearables, but rollout for the Ticwatch Pro 3 doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

Update 3 (May 9, 2023)

05:53 pm (IST): Here’s the latest response from TicWatch support regarding the availability of Wear OS 3.
