It can be quite frustrating to use the native webcam on your PC or laptop that has degraded quality. Fortunately, smartphone manufacturers are offering a solution to this problem.
Google recently added a feature that lets you use a Pixel’s camera as a webcam, while Apple has been offering a similar feature for its iPhones. It enables users to video conference with much-improved quality. Now, Samsung has joined the ranks by introducing a the same functionality called Copilot on Galaxy devices, elevating the video conferencing experience for its users.
Google introduced this feature with Android 14 QPR1 beta 1 and currently, it’s available on supported Pixel phones. It is set to be released for all Android 14 users, allowing them to utilize their smartphones as webcams on PCs, Macs, and Chromebooks.
Samsung brings Microsoft’s Copilot feature to Galaxy devices
Following in the footsteps of Google, Samsung has also unveiled a similar feature for Galaxy users. During CES 2024, Samsung announced a collaboration with Microsoft to bring Copilot features to Galaxy devices. This promising addition aims not only to enhance video call quality but also to introduce diverse options for more engaging video conferencing experience.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Book 4 series now offers the capability to transform your phone’s camera into a PC webcam. This feature enables users to utilize the superior cameras of their Galaxy smartphones for video calls on popular conferencing apps like Microsoft Teams.
Moreover, it will allow Galaxy users to switch between front and back cameras effortlessly with just a tap. Additionally, Samsung has integrated features like background blur and auto-framing, enhancing the focus on subjects irrespective of varying environmental conditions. Furthermore, the South Korean tech giant is actively working to incorporate the Copilot feature across its Android and Windows-based devices.
