The latest Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3 update made Google Pixel’s weather lock screen more functional thanks to the integration of the DND and alarm icons that will indicate that some of those functions (or both) are ‘on’. Previously, this screen only displayed items such as time, date, and weather conditions.

It should be noted that Google Pixel’s weather lock screen is a little different from the stock Android 14 one. The company wants its devices to be a little more exclusive, so in Android 14 it added some additional lock screen options instead of limiting itself to ‘vertically stacked clocks’ that basically differ only in the font design.

Now, after updating to Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3, the weather lock screen of your Google Pixel will show the DND and alarm icons near the weather information in a fairly clean design. These icons are only indicators that you have enabled an alarm or set DND mode, not a shortcut or something similar.

Likewise, they will appear in always-on display mode (AOD), which is a big change considering that both icons were previously only present in the status bar.

Interestingly, these new features are exclusive to Google Pixel phones, but the Pixel Tablet is running out of them. Currently, Google’s first tablet does not have lock screen clocks or shortcut customization, which is quite striking since the company, in theory, developed these features with large screens in mind, and their presence on the inner screen of the Pixel Fold is proof of this.
