New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 27, 2023) follows:

The Finals launched in open beta form this week, and it’s proven to be so popular its developer has struggled to maintain capacity. Some players are reporting that the The Finals servers down or not working. We don’t have player numbers for Xbox or PlayStation, but we can see just how popular the open beta is on Steam, where The Finals is currently the sixth most-popular game.

The Finals servers down or throwing login error 500 or 402

The Finals’ open beta release has been met with overwhelming enthusiasm, which, as it turns out, has created some challenges for the game’s developers. The demand for The Finals has been so high that the servers have been under immense pressure, leading to intermittent server downtime.

The situation is particularly frustrating for those who manage to get into the game, only to find themselves abruptly kicked out during matches. When they attempt to rejoin, they encounter server errors, making it impossible to continue their gaming experience. To add salt to the wound, some of these players are receiving temporary 30-minute bans for leaving matches prematurely. Understandably, this has left players clamoring for additional server capacity to address the high ping and connectivity issues they are facing.

The Finals servers down

For some unlucky gamers, their ordeal begins even before they can set foot in the game. Whenever they try to log in to The Finals, they are greeted with discouraging error messages like “Login failed: 500” or “Login failed: 402.” These messages effectively prevent them from accessing the game and participating in the action. It’s a frustrating experience for eager players, to say the least.

Official word

It’s clear that the developers of The Finals may not have fully anticipated the sheer number of players flooding the open beta. The game’s popularity has exceeded their expectations, leading to these technical issues. However, it’s worth noting that they are actively working to address these problems. The developers are now in the process of expanding the open beta’s capacity to accommodate the surging demand.

Potential workarounds

For now here are a couple of workarounds that you can try:

    1. Verify Game Files: If you’re facing login errors, it’s worth checking the integrity of your game files. This can often resolve issues related to corrupted or missing files. On Steam, right-click on the game in your library, go to “Properties,” then “Local Files,” and select “Verify Integrity of Game Files.”

    2. Restart Steam: Sometimes, a simple restart of the Steam client can do wonders. Close Steam, reopen it, and try launching The Finals again. This might help alleviate some of the login issues.

While these workarounds may not guarantee a seamless experience, they have been helpful for some players.

Update 1 (October 30, 2023)

03:15 pm (IST): The developers of The Finals have reassured their player base that they are actively enhancing their server capabilities to accommodate more players during the Open Beta phase.
