If you are into Cyberpunk themed video games, you might be surprised to know Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t the only game in the genre.

Developed by Neon Giant and published by Curve Digital, The Ascent is an action RPG game that was released in July last year. Made using Unreal Engine 4, players control characters from an isometric view.

Although many have praised it for its gameplay and overall presentation, game-breaking issues such as players losing their progress and being unable to progress due to the Mutual Dependencies bug have deterred many trying the title.

Having said that, PS4 and PS5 owners are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that The Ascent is crashing because of corrupted save game data. The problem is causing those affected to either start from scratch or download their cloud save if they have one.

Many say they are disheartened and don’t want to start all over. It looks like reinstalling the game isn’t helping either since the game continues crashing and eventually corrupts their save game file.

Just got corrupted save on PS4. Any way to get the save back? After numerous crashes in the 15 hours I’ve played, just crashed again and when reloading it said my save is corrupted and is trying to make a fresh save state. Is there anyway to recover a corrupted save file? Unfortunate, as I was really enjoying the game and made quite a bit of progress.

Well, first I want to say, that the game is truly fantastic. Then I noticed the game would start crashing here and there, I figured its no big deal as it happens with most games. Took a break and started reading through the tutorial section, the game would crash again. I reloaded and tried it again, went back into menu and started browsing through the list. It crashed again within 5 minutes. This time upon reload, it prompted me to start a new game, detailing the original file is corrupt and cannot be loaded.
