Recently, a cryptic post claiming that Valve, the developer of Team Fortress 2, is shutting down the game’s servers on October 10, 2023, has been circulating on social media.

And this news has without a doubt caused significant distress among fans (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) who are concerned about its impending closure.

They argue that despite the lack of updates, TF2 remains the 3rd most played game on Steam with more than 100k daily players, surpassing many AAA titles.

One of those affected says that they didn’t expect Valve to shut down a game with a thriving community and player count 16 years after its debut.

Another adds that it will truly be the end of an era if the developers actually shut down the game.

Some even claim to have seen a similar rumor doing rounds years ago as well. And they anticipate that this news is probably fake.

How about instead of shutting down TF2 any single game company has to release just 1 game that isn’t complete trash.
