The highly anticipated Super Mario Bros Wonder has reportedly been leaked on the internet. Although it was removed moments after it surfaced, the leak revealed some crucial information about the game.
Super Mario Bros Wonder is set to release on October 20, 2023. But due to the leak and testaments from players who claimed they had already finished the game, we have pieced together what players can expect in the upcoming game.
Everything leaked about Super Mario Bros Wonder so far
Going through seven leak reports on Reddit and a report from a player who has allegedly played 100% of the game already, I have summarized these pieces of information about the game:
Number of Levels:The game allegedly has somewhere around 128 levels. Quite a few of those are short and akin to minigames.
Unlockable characters: Other than Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yellow Toad, Blue Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, Red Yoshi, Yellow Yoshi, Light-Blue Yoshi, and Nabbit, there are no other unlockable characters available in the game.
Post-game content: The game severely lacks in the post-game department. Reportedly, there isn’t a single extra level or boss after the main game content.
Multiplayer: Multiplayer doesn’t work well on difficult levels either. The levels are either too fast-paced or the camera is locked on a single player.
Bosses: The game features primarily Bowser Jr. and some sort of evil conveyor belt, which you defeat by jumping on a button, reminiscent of old-school Bowser.
Difficulty: The normal world is pretty easy; the special world, however, is quite challenging; the final level starts off difficult and ends ‘unfair’.
Secret levels: There’s a special world that has levels accessible individually through their respective worlds. For example, world 1 gives access to the first of the levels in the special world, the second world has a path to the second level, etc.; they’re not especially well hidden, but some require you to reenter the final level, some require you to find a secret exit, etc.
Reviews and impressions so far
Despite its shortcomings and the lack of post-game content, the game is still a lot of fun, featuring classic jump-and-run mechanics, innovative ideas, and numerous levels. The badges, in particular, offer a fresh way to experience Mario Bros games.
Overall, Super Mario Bros is a treat for long-time fans, paying homage to the classic 2D mechanics while incorporating modern elements. Wonder serves as proof that modern games can innovate and remain enjoyable without sacrificing their classic identity entirely.
