The platform’s social features, like groups, provide an excellent opportunity to connect and interact with other athletes who share similar interests.

However, some Strava users are disgruntled as they have lately started experiencing an issue.

Strava users getting automatically added to random clubs or groups

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple Strava users are facing an issue where they are being automatically added to random clubs or groups without their consent.

The problem is particularly bothersome as it leads to a flood of notifications from unwanted clubs, cluttering their feeds with posts they do not intend to see.

Users allege that they cannot leave the groups or get rid of the constant alerts. And those who are able to manually leave them are unable to stop the annoying notifications as well.

And without a doubt, it negatively impacts one’s overall experience with the platform.

Some have questioned the need for introducing such a change on Strava. While others speculate that the app may have been hacked as a large number of individuals are experiencing the same problem.

Understandably, those affected are now requesting the developers to address the bug and restore the positive user experience the platform was known for.

Official acknowledgment

Fortunately, the Strava support team has officially acknowledged this issue and is currently working on fixing it. But, unfortunately, no ETA for the fix has been mentioned.

Potential workaround

A Twitter user claims that the ‘1 Kathlon Ultra Running’ official club keeps adding members to their other groups. So they have recommended that users leave this group to get rid of the problem.
