Several Steam client users have lately been experiencing difficulties while trying to log in on the platform. Steam recently introduced an update to the app that brings various bug fixes and improvements. For instance, the recent patch fixed an issue where empty folders could not be recreated when verifying a game installation. It also addressed a bug where some Steam protocol handlers could not be handled correctly.

However, it appears that the latest update has also introduced some bugs and issues.

Steam client users experiencing difficulties while trying to login

Fresh reports suggest that multiple Steam users are encountering problems while trying to login to the platform. Apparently, some are being asked to sign in to their accounts every time they launch the Steam client. To their surprise, this is happening even when they have checked the ‘Remember Me’ option.

Even though the app manages to remember one’s ID, it fails to remember their password. After entering the password, users also have to input a confirmation code, which is sent to their email address.

However, such authentication is required even when one uses the same device that was used to login previously. So, an action that was previously quick and easy has now become a headache for many. Reports suggest that gamers are also getting logged out when using a Steam Deck running non-Steam games. Additionally, there have also been instances where they get signed out after switching Windows accounts.

Sadly, there is a section of users that is unable to successfully login to their accounts. Despite providing the correct information, the system insists that either their username or password is incorrect.

People claim to be experiencing such problems while trying to sign in on some of their devices. For instance, a user asserts that even though they can login on their laptop without any hiccup, the same doesn’t happen on their PC.

Those on Mac keep getting an ‘Unable to Download Configuration Files’ error after inputting the login codes. And this is without a doubt disheartening for those who are unable to play their favorite games. It’s noteworthy that the issue persists even after resetting the account password multiple times. Nevertheless, the troubles don’t end here.

Store Homepage also glitched

Users are also facing an issue where they are unable to use some sections of the Steam store’s homepage. Apparently, they are being asked to sign in while trying to access it. The message reads, ‘Sign in to view personalized recommendations or signup and just use Steam for free’.

Astonishingly, this is happening even when they are already signed in to their account. As per the claims, clicking the button only ends up reloading the entire web page. Users are annoyed as they have been encountering such issues for the past few months.

On the other hand, there have also been instances when the page would work correctly but chatrooms and forum notifications failed to function properly. People get an alert that they are disconnected from the internet. This tends to happen more frequently on ‘Maintenance Tuesdays’ and during holidays.

Official Acknowledgment (Client login issue)

Fortunately, a Steam Administrator on Reddit has officially responded to the matter and stated that the concerned team is aware of the issue. They are currently working on resolving it. However, no official ETA for the bug fix has been given.
