Starfield players are reporting a unique issue where they believe the game lacks truly evil companion NPCs.

Many players have taken to social media to highlight the issue in hopes of shedding some light on it.

Seriously, everyone is a damn boyscout or a troubled teenager that talks shit but when someone actually puts their fists up they shit their pants. Sarah was a massive disappointment for me, I’d figure she would be okay with criminal activity considering she literally says, do whatever you want. (Source)

I’ve looked at all of the companions and none of them seem to be evil per say. The only one that seems like it would fit is Andreja, but she doesn’t seem evil and more morally ambiguous. For anyone who’s playing that type of playthrough, who are you using? (Source)

Starfield was promised to be a vast and open adventure that would offer players the freedom to choose their own path.

The game was supposed to provide options for both ‘good’ and ‘evil’ paths. Unfortunately, according to players, the ‘evil’ path feels lacking. This is especially when it comes to companion characters.

According to player reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), despite their appearances and overall attitude, the companions condemn the player when they attack or injure civilians.

This allegedly hampers the experience for players seeking to play as an evil character.

Companions like Sarah and Andreja initially seemed promising for evil-route players. But ultimately, their moral ambiguity and aversion to violence ruined the experience for players.

Due to the lack of variety among companions, players are demanding that more companions be added to the game in future DLCs.

Workarounds for the lack of evil companion NPCs in Starfield

Apparently, the workaround involves players joining the Crimson Fleet faction, where they could find some evil companions.

Go join the Crimson Fleet, once you do some of the questlines with them, youll get some evil bastards as possible companions (Source)

Apart from the Crimson Fleet, players also have the option of having Vasco, the obsessed fan, as a companion. He is so enamored with the player that he never objects to anything the player does, no matter how evil it is.

So far, there has been no official statement on the issue. But we will continue to monitor the situation and provide an update if and when there are any further developments.
