Spotify users have lately been encountering an issue where the ‘Recently Played’ section is missing from the app’s home screen.
This section is definitely a valuable tool to rediscover favorite songs, track listening habits, and get recommendations about new music.
However, users have been unable to reap the benefits of the ‘Recently Played’ section for the past few days.
Spotify ‘Recently Played’ section missing or disappeared from home screen
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), multiple Spotify users can no longer access the tracks that they have previously played from the app’s homescreen.
As per the claims, the ‘Recently Played’ section is now only visible on the Queue page. However, upon opening it, one can only see a ‘See what you’ve listened to, your listening history will appear here’ message.
People assert that the app fails to remember the track history. Without a doubt, this is quite saddening for those who cannot retrieve some unsaved songs that they like.

And to make matters worse, the issue persists on the web app as well. Interestingly, the ‘Recently Played’ section has been completely removed from the queue on the web portal.
A user contends to be encountering such problems every now and then. They say that the previously played tracks appear on their own after a few days.
However, in a worst-case scenario, the playback history won’t be restored before a few weeks. Those affected have even tried switching devices and accessing the platform with different accounts, but all in vain.
This morning the “recently played” on my Home Screen is gone, that was my favorite place to go and I can’t find some of my recently played albums now.

Interestingly, some lucky folks are able to retrieve the track list from the Queue section itself.
I wish Spotify would stop changing its layout it keeps getting rid of recently played and that’s honestly the most annoying thing ever.

People are now requesting the developers to bring back the ‘Recently Played’ section as soon as possible.
Official acknowledgment
Fortunately, the Spotify support team on X has officially responded to the matter and claims that developers are working on fixing the glitch. Also, they are hopeful that the fix will be out soon.

That said, we will keep tabs on this topic and update this article to reflect the latest developments.
