Original story (published on October 02, 2021) follows:

Spotify is one of the most popular audio streaming and media service providers that has gradually grown its user base into millions. Though it’s available on both Android and iOS, it is mostly preferred by the iOS users.

It provides audio services such as songs and podcasts. Moreover, the users can also create their own playlist and choose from the wide range of audio from different genres.

Furthermore, Spotify lets the users discover new music and podcasts, listen to their favorite artists, even listen to music offline with a Premium membership, and much more.

It also has an option where you can like any song you want and it will be added to your liked songs. These songs can then be easily accessed from the liked songs library. But lately, Spotify users on iOS are having an issue with the ‘Like’ icon.

Some users have previously reported that the ‘Like’ icon in the Now Playing view of the iOS app gets automatically reversed when playing a liked song.

In detail, sometimes when a user plays a song from the library, it seems that it is not liked in the player and the ‘Like’ icon is automatically greyed out. It looks like the song is removed from the list, but it is still shown in the library.

We haven’t come across any reports from Android users regarding such an issue. So apparently, it seems that this bug is only bothering iOS users.

Meanwhile, Spotify is already aware of this bug. After looking at the iOS users’ complaints on the community forums, this issue has been acknowledged by the Spotify team.

Hey folks!

We’re getting reports that in the Now Playing view of the iOS app when playing a liked song, the ‘Like’ icon is reversed. Liked songs have the grayed-out icon, while non-liked songs have the green icon.

This is being investigated. (Source)

The recent post on the Spotify forum suggests that the company is investigating the Spotify Like icon bug on iOS. Moreover, a moderator has also provided a temporary workaround that could probably resolve this issue.

It involves a clean re-installation of the application that can be done by clearing the app data. If this doesn’t work, then the users are asked to provide some details such as the device’s OS version, Spotify version, and how this problem is discovered.

Lastly, the company has assured that the users will be updated as soon as the issue gets fixed.

This doesn’t seem a big problem and it’s just a small software glitch that should be resolved soon.

That said, we will keep a track of the further development of this Spotify Like icon issue and let you know if anything new comes up, so stay tuned.

Update 1 (October 04)
