Multiple X users are facing an issue where they are unable to cast the SpaceX livestream to their TV via the app.

And this is happening because SpaceX has recently removed all the upcoming YouTube streams, including the Crew 6 splashdown and the upcoming Starlink mission.

Notably, the company has removed all the links to social media networks from the website’s menu. Also, these streams are now only viewable exclusively on X (FKA Twitter).

SpaceX livestream not casting on TV via X

However, by glancing at the reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), it appears that viewers are disappointed with SpaceX’s recent move.

As per the claims, the X app doesn’t feature a ‘cast’ button, even after the recent shift. This makes it impossible for anyone to livestream the broadcast on their televisions.

Sadly, one can now only view such events on their smartphones or laptops that support the app. And this is understandably quite disappointing for those who love to watch such streams on big screens together with their families.

Users argue that if SpaceX had decided to exclusively stream launches, then they should have also considered enabling casting options similar to Chromecast.

They even find it challenging to engage their children or share the excitement of space launches, as they can only watch them on small smartphone screens.

@elonmusk if you are only going to stream SpaceX launches from @X, then can you enable casting like chrome cast? Hard to get my kids excited about space watching over my shoulder on the phone. Would be nice to cast to the TV

Some are also disappointed with the low quality of the live stream. Although people are hoping that the company will revoke its decision soon.

Disappointing decision by @SpaceX/@elonmusk to exclusively stream launches on X. The video streaming quality is, at best subpar, and viewing options are limited. Used to sit and watch with family on our TV youtube app which isn’t an option with X. Hope this decision is reversed.

Those impacted have tried using different Android casting apps but were unfortunately unable to cast the livestream on their TVs. And to make matters worse, the stream cannot be broadcasted even with Airplay on iOS.

A few are so frustrated that they are thinking of removing the X app from their devices.

X smart TV video app demanded

A subset of users (1,2,3) thinks that the company should introduce a dedicated video app for smart TVs. By doing so, viewers will be able to once again livestream the broadcasts in high quality, and that too on larger screens.

It’s noteworthy that Elon Musk hinted that the company was already working on developing an app for smart TVs. However, until now, no updates on this matter have been provided.

In the meantime, we will keep an eye on this topic and notify you whenever we come across some new information.
