If you ever used it, you might know Sony’s ‘my Xperia’ web service allowed users to remotely locate their phone in the event of loss or theft, and secure it by locking or wiping the sensitive information. Sadly, what’s now coming to light is that the company has pulled the plug on the service.

The confirmation about the service’s termination came from Jonas (part of Xperia Support Staff team) while addressing one of the users on the official help forum. Here’s what exactly they said:

As of January 17, 2018, the my Xperia web service has also been discontinued

They also added:

You will now be redirected to Google’s Find My Device web service instead

We can confirm that on accessing ‘my Xperia’ web service, one gets redirected to Google ‘Find My Device’ page. Here’s where we landed:

Just in case you aren’t aware, the company ended support for both ‘my Xperia’ app and ‘Protection by my Xperia’ with the advent of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. And now, the ‘my Xperia’ web service has also joined the club of ex-Xperia services.
