New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on April 30, 2022) follows:

Sonos is one of the most important brands dedicated to the sound segment. The company offers a wide catalog of wireless Smart Speakers and soundbars.

Sonos devices are designed to set up your entire home sound system. They allow you to set up a surround sound system by synchronizing multiple speakers.

That said, currently many Sonos speakers and subwoofers are experiencing an issue where the audio is cutting out or stuttering on surround setups after the most recent update.

Sonos surround speakers audio cutting out or stuttering after 14.6 update

According to reports, the problem occurs in Sonos surround setups (two or more linked smart speakers/soundbars). The sound in the speakers is randomly cutting out or stuttering while watching TV or any multimedia content.

Rear surround speakers cutting out while watching TV

Hello. My Play:1 speakers are connected to my Playbar, and while watching TV, the surround sound cuts out constantly. It mostly does not work, and only works in spurts, intermittently. The sound works fine when playing music via Spotify.

Surround speakers stuttering when watching home cinema.

Having trouble with the surround speakers on my home theatre setup. Whenever I watch a movie with surround on apple TV the rear SL speakers keep stuttering making the movie unwatchable.

Setup: Arc + 2 Gen2 Subs + 2 SL surrounds.

TV is a 65” Samsung QN95A with audio set to passthrough

1m Sandstrom Gold Series HDMI cable to HDMI3 (eArc) on TV.

Some reports indicate that the stuttering audio issue starts right after the movie title screen. During the movie title screen, there is no problem.

When the movie title screen is displayed the music plays perfectly though the surrounds but when the movie is played the rear speakers stutter and pulse.

A potential workaround to mitigate the issue

It seems that restarting all speakers in the surround system helps to solve the problem temporarily. However, the issue will reappear when switching to another source or audio format.

When I reboot each of them, the sound comes back temporary, but when I switch to another source or audio format, thé Sound disappears again. Tried several times, same behavior.
