Original story (published on August 29, 2022) follows:

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is the latest smartwatch by the South Korean manufacturer. It is available in a couple of variants whose main difference is the more robust design: standard and Pro.

Although Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is similar in looks to its predecessor, there are significant improvements in the usability and appearance department.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 users report that they are unhappy with the battery life as it’s even worse than the Galaxy Watch 4 despite getting a bigger battery size.

Users were excited at the prospect of increased battery life and the faster 10W charging speed, but they’ve been left disappointed as they only get an average of 1 day and a couple of hours of battery life.

This issue seems to be unaffected by the usage of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 as users say that battery drains out quickly even after little-to-no usage of the device.

Galaxy watch 5 pro
I just got this watch on Wednesday but the battery life stinks its only lasting a day. Know I thought with the bigger battery I would at least get two days out of it. Is anyone else having the same problem if you are please get back to me I would really like to talk to you. Thanks

Samsung, why is my Galaxy watch 4 battery getting 2 days plus and my new Galaxy watch 5 is only getting 1 day 4 hours?
Feeling like I got tipped.

However, this shouldn’t deter potential buyers since there are other people who say the battery life is amazing.

AOD on all day (except for nights) used Google maps a ton to navigate college and used it to sleep track. It hasn’t smelt the charger all these days not even when showering. I’m really impressed as this is basically the only reason I upgraded from the watch 4 and also the fact that it looks great

As it turns out, there is no official word from Samsung on the matter. At least not for now, but there are some workarounds to consider.

A couple of potential workarounds

Until new related developments emerge, there are some potential workarounds that could help you. First, you can try turning the media control setting off:

Secondly, turn both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on and select the ‘Auto’ option in the mobile network selection settings.

If you turn off bluetooth and wifi you are forcing it to use LTE continuously, which drains the battery much faster than normal. Leave both on and mobile networks on “auto”. Also, it takes a couple of weeks with a new watch to reach its “normal” battery life.

And lastly, disable the ‘Hey Google’ wakeup call for Google Assistant.

Rest assured, we will be keeping an eye out and update this space as and when we come across more information so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
