OnePlus has grown its user base into millions in just a few years from when the company was incorporated. The reason being its high-end offerings at relatively low prices.

Well, it seems that serving the growing number of users has become harder for the brand alongside maintaining the quality. A widespread audio issue has come to light which is bothering OnePlus users on a large scale.

Many users have reported [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7] media output issues while using Bluetooth devices on their OnePlus smartphones.

In detail, when they play audio via a Bluetooth device such as a pair of headphones or speaker, it fails to play. Instead, the output comes out from the mobile speaker.

For some users, the audio plays on the Bluetooth device for some time, and then it automatically pauses. Playing it again switches audio to the phone’s speaker.

This seems pretty annoying and no one would want to get disrupted when listening to music or any other audio on a Bluetooth device.

After latest update, Bluetooth stops working. The phone connects to the devices, but keeps using phone speaker or switches back to it soon. Makes all Bluetooth peripherals completely useless. Happens at least with YouTube, Spotify and google podcasts. (Source)

Normally the sound is switching to the bluetooth earphone while it’s connected. Since the last update I cannot use the bluetooth earphone. The sound still send to the phone speakers. Even I tried to switch manually there is no change. (Source)

Frustrated by this issue, those affected have tried several workarounds like deleting the Bluetooth memory, disconnecting and reconnecting the Bluetooth device, restarting, repairing, and changing the media output.

But none of these managed to get this annoying bug fixed. After looking at the multiple reports, it clearly seems this is a software issue that needs to be fixed internally.

While reporting this bug on the forum, users have confirmed that the issue with OnePlus Bluetooth audio is happening after they installed the latest update.

Fortunately, OnePlus staff members on the OnePlus community forum are keeping tabs on this problem by asking those affected to share details of the situation to help them look further into it.
