Macintosh computers have revolutionized the world of personal computing, setting new standards for design and performance.

iCloud is one of the integral components of Apple’s ecosystem, designed to enhance the user experience and allow for seamless interaction between devices.

This helps ensure that the most recent changes and updates are available on all connected devices. However, lately, some Mac owners have started experiencing an issue.

Mac owners getting ‘@suddenlink.com’ emails in iCloud

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8), multiple Mac owners are facing an issue where they keep getting emails from ‘@suddenlink.com’ in their iCloud.

It has been alleged that despite their attempts to block such spam through the ‘Rules’ filter, the unwanted emails arrive time and again.

Apparently, this is happening because the initial few characters of the addresses change each time, making it difficult for one to create effective rules.

Users are unable to understand why they receive emails that are not addressed to any of their email accounts. They also claim to have found no malware on scanning their Mac devices with Malwarebytes Antimalware.

One of those impacted says that they get about 30 emails from this domain every day. They have also received an email from their Credit Card provider stating that their email address has been leaked on the dark web.

Another Mac owner claims that even though the emails from ‘suddenlinkmail’ are sent to the Trash folder, one still needs to empty it manually.

I keep getting random senders from suddenlinkmail.com. I use icloud web mail. I have rules setup to move email to junk as @suddenlinkmail.com and simply listing suddenlinkmail.com. It does not work.

They also complain that such emails don’t get properly processed by SpamSieve and other spam filters.

I have tried and tried to block this nasty spam that started arriving that isn’t my address at all. Using the filter ‘Rules’ in settings on mail, I try to stop mail not addressed to me. But still it keeps coming.

However, it appears that users are facing this issue as their email addresses have been added to the mail’s header. Those affected are now requesting the developers to fix this glitch as soon as possible.

Official response

Fortunately, the problem has been already escalated to the engineering team. However, no official ETA for the bug fix has been provided.

Potential workaround

Meanwhile, you can try opening and signing in to the iCloud website from the Safari browser. After doing so, navigate to the Mail section and click on the gear box icon to access the settings.

Now, create a rule to filter such emails as mentioned below.
