Apple Music is one of the best music streaming platforms there is besides the popular Spotify. Unlike most Apple apps, you can install the Music app on multiple platforms, including Android.

Although primarily a music streaming platform, Apple Music also has other offerings, namely audiobooks. The company also has a Books app dedicated for this function.

While either platform is available on a subscription basis, you can gain access to multiple audiobooks through an Apple Music plan. However, there seem to be a problem with this model of accessing audiobooks.

Over the recent past, we have come across multiple reports from Apple Music users noting that audiobooks are suddenly disappearing from the app.

A quick scan through Reddit, the official Apple community and other forums reveals that the issue is likely affecting folks in Germany, although at this point we are unable to confirm if other regions are also affected.

I use the Music app primarily to enjoy audiobooks. Unfortunately, all audiobooks (including those I have already listened to) are no longer available in my country.

I’ve been having the problem for a week now, when I download or listen to audiobooks via Spook or directly through the Apple Music app, at some point I can’t keep listening because the songs are not available in my region…. How can I set it so that I can continue listening to the audiobooks. The problem also came with music albums. I have never had this problem with spotyfi and Amazon Music. Can anyone help?

Going by the reports, this seems to have been happening for a couple or so months now. At first, affected users reported that new audiobooks didn’t show up in the Music app.

These reports later graduated to a point where not even downloaded episodes were playable. As of this writing, audiobooks are now disappearing mysteriously from the Apple Music app.

The frustration at not being able to listen to your favorite artist during your morning drive to work is totally understandable given how addictive audiobooks can become.

And it seems this is likely to go on since audiobooks disappearing from the Music app could be a deliberate decision by Apple as it seeks to push users to its Books app.

Despite the reports having been around for some time, Apple is yet to make any official statement on this matter. But it indeed looks like Cupertino is forcing subscribers onto it’s paid-for Books app.

It also remains unclear if audiobooks that one already had access to via the Music app will remain accessible via the Books app or if they’ll require another purchase.

We will be looking out for any official word from Apple in the coming days and update this story with the info once we have it. Stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem.
