Sky: Children of the Light is a popular game developed by Thatgamecompany. It was first released on iOS in 2019, and this year it received a version for the Nintendo Switch console.

However, the Nintendo Switch version of Sky: Children of the Light is reportedly ‘broken’. It seems that the game is constantly crashing when reaching certain areas (1, 2, 3).

Sky: Children of the Light crashing issue on Nintendo Switch

According to multiple reports, the crashing issue in Sky: Children of the Light for Nintendo Switch can occur in various ways. In some cases, it occurs when you reach certain areas of the map.

If you’re a Switch player, beware. Entering certain realms will cause the game to crash!

I’m not sure if/when TGC will address/fix this, given that Nintendo only allows TGC one hotfix a YEAR. But just a fair warning, Candle Runs AND Quest Candles WILL be disrupted. Entering certain realms will completely crash the game. I myself am effectively locked out of Hidden Forest along with the Season of Flight area. Others have reported other realms crashing on them while others are safe. So far, safe ones for me personally have been the Vault and Isle.

Some players can’t even start the game

Meanwhile, in other reported cases, it crashes from the beginning, and not even lets the player start the game.

So we all know that Nintendo only allows Sky to have one hotfix a year. This is well-established fact now (Thanks, Nintendo).

I fear they might have just used up their one hotfix to fix the one quest not granting the candle (finding the hidden cave area in Prairie).

If this is the case, this is extremely unfortunate. Others are completely locked out of their games on their Switches, as it crashes as soon as they load the game. I’m locked out of Hidden Forest AND Valley of Triumph. So that means for the next two days, I’m missing out on TEN QUEST CANDLES and numerous bonus candle wax.

And, with an upcoming Traveling Spirit, that means this will hurt me and many many other candle runners on the Switch.

Developers are already aware

The problems started from the arrival of patch 0.15.5. This is something that the company itself confirms, recognizing that they are already aware of the reports.
