The Fitbit Sense is one of the best fitness and health tracking smartwatch available in the market right now.

It is packed with features and advanced sensors that enable the Fitbit Sense to track everything from blood oxygen level, stress level, temperature, sleep, and even ECG.

The Versa 3 is a similar device that lacks only a handful of features such as ECG, skin temperature monitor, and stress sensing.

Having said that, the company recently released a firmware update for the Fitbit Sense and the Versa 3 that added numerous functionalities to these devices.

These features include a SpO2 Clock face, Heart Rate notifications, the ability to get an audio response from Google, and the much-awaited Clock Face Switcher.

But it looks like things did not go according to plans for Fitbit.

In the last few weeks, several device owners complained that their Fitbit Sense and Versa 3 units are stuck either on a black screen or on the Fitbit logo a few days after users updated to the latest firmware.

It seems like the firmware has broken the device functionality for several users worldwide.

For about a week my Fitbit sense stopped to work. It was charged, and when I pressed the side bottom and after some time the logo appeared , but after short time the logo disappeared and only black screen. I tried tens times. Always the same , the logo after the logo only black screen. how to sort it out? thanks Tuvi

The Fitbit community moderators have tried to help the affected users but to no avail.

Right now, it looks like the only fix for the black screen issue is to restart the device. You can also shut down the device from settings if you can navigate to the menu.

While this workaround has worked for some users, others are not so lucky. Some users are still experiencing the black screen issue or are stuck on the Fitbit logo.

It looks like the firmware update has bricked the Fitbit Sense and Versa 3 for some users.

This is really embarrassing for a company that wants to compete with the likes of the Apple Watch. It seems like the developers at Fitbit need to do a bit more testing before they release any update.

We hope Fitbit acknowledges and fixes the black screen issue quickly. Till then, the smartwatches are more or less a $200+ paperweight for those affected.
