New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 06, 2020) follows:

Yesterday, Samsung announced several new devices including the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Plus. And to our surprise, the South Korean giant even confirmed that the Note 20 series, along with a few other devices, will get up to 3 OS updates.

This has been a long-time request from Samsung users since the company only offers 2 major OS updates. The same applies to its budget, mid-range, and ultra-premium phones. Therefore, it was high-time that Samsung stepped up and offered at least 3 major OS updates, especially for its flagships.

And on the subject of updates, there’s more good news. Samsung has officially announced the One UI 3.0 beta program for developers. We had expected to see the update arrive soon but didn’t expect Samsung to kick-start the One UI 3.0 beta based on Android 11 this early.

One UI 3.0 update is coming to the Galaxy S20 series

Previously, we covered a report suggesting that One UI 3.0 was being tested on the Samsung Galaxy S20 UK models. Further, a Geekbench test result also showed the S20 running on Android 11. But that’s not all, a user on Weibo even spotted a line of code that suggested One UI 3.0 was being tested on the S20 series.

Nevertheless, now that Samsung has officially announced the One UI 3.0 beta program, interested users can head over to the official announcement page to register themselves. The program is open to users in China, Germany, India, Poland, Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Further, the company is also giving Samsung partner developers an option to participate in a pre-beta phase. This will allow developers in Korea and the U.S. to perform compatibility testing with certain carriers and device models.

Of course, once the testing ends for the S20 series, other devices may also get the beta update. Here are all the phones from Samsung that are eligible for the One UI 3.0 update based on Android 11. As usual, we will continue to track developments on the One UI 3.0 rollout and will post an update once we have new information.
