This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (published on September 07, 2020) follows:

A new software update is in the works for owners of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 smartwatch. The update is expected to tag along a bunch of new features from the newer Galaxy Watch 3, but there is still no actual release date.

At $399, the Galaxy Watch 3 is the latest addition to the growing list of Samsung smartwatches announced this year. The Watch 3, as you’d expect, comes with a bunch of improvements over its predecessors.

While there is little we can do to port the new hardware over to older Galaxy Watch units, the software side of things offers a whole different level of experience.

Just like its smartphones where features that launch with new phones eventually find their way to older models via software updates, Samsung is lining up a huge software update that will bring One UI 2 (Watch Edition) update based on Tizen 5.5.

At this point, it’s hard to tell exactly which features will be made available to the Galaxy Watch Active 2, but we do have more evidence suggesting that the update, which will arrive as One UI 2 (Watch Edition) based on Tizen 5.5, is almost ready to roll out.

Apparently, the company has already sent out an update to the Galaxy Watch Active 2 plugin that adds compatibility with Tizen 5.5, as seen below.
