Samsung had proclaimed that the new hardware improvements in their latest line of smartwatches, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, don’t compromise battery life. But the reality doesn’t seem to be quite in line with the claim.
On various internet forums and live service threads, countless users have shared that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 battery life isn’t living up to the claims.
Some of them even stated that the previous Galaxy Watch 5 Pro was much superior in terms of battery backup.
“5 PRO has 590mAh so I feel the 6 Series will still have a major issue with having to charge after 1 or 2 days. I was going to buy my first Galaxy Watch and want to use it for all my health needs including the Sleep Tracking. So I’m guessing the best option will be me just buying the 5 PRO when the price drops” (Source)

Ever since the announcement of the Galaxy Watch 6 at Galaxy Unpacked, a large group of community members have been waiting for the product.
The lucrative features and top-notch style made it the top pick for loyal Samsung enthusiasts.
Poor battery performance is nothing new for Samsung smartwatches. But most users expected the company to at least bring a significant upgrade in the battery department with the Galaxy Watch 6 series, and now they’re disappointed.
On an online thread, a user shared that they have been only using their essential apps and programs to get a relatively viable battery life.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 battery performance compared to other models
A Korean YouTuber named GoniTV recently made an in-depth video review where they compared various Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 6 models’ battery performance.
In the video, they used each watch for 10 hours straight on maximum brightness and shared the remaining battery percentages of each watch.

GONITV’s in-depth examination makes it very clear that in terms of battery backup, Galaxy Watch 6 40mm is undoubtedly the best.
The closest rival it has is Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and Galaxy Watch 6 44mm which after 10 hours of continuous use successfully maintained 40%+ battery charge.
However, it’s also worth pointing out that the older models of the smartwatches could most probably have batteries degraded over time, which could also factor in their end results.
There hasn’t been any official statement regarding this battery issue on new models from Samsung. We’ll keep track of the situation and post an update if and when there are any further developments on the matter.
