The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a high-end smartphone with a terrific camera, long battery life, and a powerful processor.

However, like any other smartphone, the Galaxy S23 family of devices also has it’s fair share of bugs and issues.

For instance, we recently covered issues where the June update for the Galaxy S23 series was delayed due to bugs and a black or purple smearing issue popped up while scrolling on the S23 devices.

Now, a new one has surfaced.

Samsung Galaxy S23 fingerprint sensor icon disappearing from lock screen

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple Samsung Galaxy S23 owners are facing an issue where the fingerprint sensor icon is disappearing from the lock screen.

This makes it difficult for them to locate the sensor and unlock their smartphone. Due to this glitch, one needs to guess the sensor’s position or utilize a different unlocking method, such as a PIN.

It has been alleged that the issue occurs intermittently after using the fingerprint sensor a few times. In addition to this, the icon also disappears if one expands any notification on the lock screen and uses a back gesture.

Some claim that enabling and disabling the ‘fingerprint always on’ option fixes the problem temporarily. But sadly, it pops up again after restarting the phone.

One of those affected complains that the problem occurs when the power button is pressed twice. But luckily they are able to use the scanner to unlock their mobile.

Another alleges that the fingerprint scanner icon does not appear most of the time. Notably, users have been facing this issue ever since they installed the June 2023 update.

The June update of Galaxy S23 series (WF1) brought some new bugs such as fingerprint errors, and Samsung seems to have screwed up something again.

Some of those impacted assert that enabling the ‘fingerprint always on’ option, locking the device, unlocking it using the fingerprint sensor, and then disabling the feature helps them get rid of the problem.

Still, they are requesting Samsung to address this concern as soon as possible.

No official response

Unfortunately, Samsung has not officially acknowledged this issue. But we are hopeful that they will fix this glitch soon.

Having said that, we will keep tabs on the issue where the fingerprint sensor icon keeps disappearing from the Samsung Galaxy S23 lock screen and update this article with the latest developments.
