History tells us that the Samsung Galaxy S11 launch should take place at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 event. More often than not, Samsung uses the MWC stage to unveil new devices in the Galaxy S series so we don’t expect 2020 to be any different.

However, in what is becoming a trend, you know, just like it happened with the Galaxy S10 launch event that took place several days before the actual MWC 2019 show kicked off, it’s now being rumored that the Galaxy S11 launch event could take place about a week before the upcoming MWC 2020 event.

The MWC 2020 is scheduled to begin on February 24, but according to renowned tipster Ice Universe, Samsung has plans to unveil the Galaxy S11 on February 18, which is about a week before the D-Day.

Rumors: Samsung Electronics is tentatively launching the Galaxy S11 series and clamshell foldable phones in San Francisco, USA on February 18, 2020.

The reason OEMs are leaning towards this idea of launching devices a few days before the MWC show begins is to give them a headstart in the race to publicity. Everyone wants the biggest media attention and what other time to get it than days before the main event?

By launching the Galaxy S11 earlier, Samsung will have more time to show off the phone to more media outlets at the event rather than use the event’s limited period (it ends on February 27) to launch the phones.

Besides the Galaxy S11, Samsung will reportedly bring along clamshell foldable phones as it looks to build on the shaky ground set up by the first-generation Galaxy Fold.

How true this development is remains to be seen, but given it’s just a rumor at this point, you might want to take it with a pinch of salt. Still, going by what happened earlier this year with the early Galaxy S10 launch coupled by the tipster’s great track record, this rumor seems plausible.
