Samsung Galaxy M30s users report freezing, auto-restarting, & motherboard failure, repair required; other devices affected too

When most folks think about Android phones, Samsung is the OEM that comes to mind. It has been dominating in most markets thanks to the various smartphones it offers every year at all price points.

Many of these devices ship with the company’s in-house Exynos processors that helps Samsung pocket more profit. But this move has always been criticized by fans.

Samsung’s Exynos processors usually fall behind their Qualcomm equivalents in terms of performance as well as optimization.

Moreover, Exynos SoCs are infamous for their overheating issues which is why many steer clear from Samsung phones with Exynos chips.

That said, it now seems users with Samsung phones that are powered by the Exynos 9611 are reporting freezing, auto-restarting, and motherboard failure problems.

Primarily, most reports of auto-restarting, freezing, and motherboard failure come from Samsung Galaxy M30s users.

I’m using M30s since 9monts it is a nice phone but since 1 month I am experiencing some serious issue with the phone, the phone is Hanging and Auto Restarting multiple times in a day, I already tried factory reset but the issue is the same (Source)

As you can tell from the screenshot above, a user visiting the Samsung service center was allegedly told that the issue is present on all M series phones.

The auto-restarting and freezing issues are apparently determined to be due to faulty motherboards which need to be replaced.

Similar reports have also surfaced from Samsung Galaxy A50s, Galaxy A51, Galaxy M21, Galaxy M31s, and Galaxy M31 users.

What do all these devices have in common? Well, it’s the Exynos 9611 SoC. This was pointed out by an individual on the Samsung community forums.

Reports of the problem started popping up in the last few weeks but it isn’t immediately clear whether a particular firmware update is to blame.

As made clear by complaints from users, the only way to fix the problem is to send the affected device in for repair. Restarting, resetting, and other troubleshooting steps do not seem to help.

The South Korean firm is yet to acknowledge the issue publicly in any shape or form. And it appears that it will stay that way.
