Jagex is facing heavy backlash from RuneScape players over the recent Necromancy potion stat boost changes.

The company recently released an update that introduced the Necromancy skill as well as three Necromancy potions.

These potions briefly enhance a player’s necromancy level by 1–10 and can be prepared by combining clean marrentill and cadava berries in a vial of water.

Although players of all levels can use these potions, they are mostly beneficial for those who are training necromancy. Additionally, these are beneficial for all those who need to complete certain quests as well.

However, by looking at the reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), it appears that multiple gamers are unhappy with the recently introduced combat nerfs.

As per the claims, the recent alterations have significantly reduced the benefits of extra combat skill levels, resulting in small damage gains and a diminished impact on overall performance.

Players are also disappointed as the developers have not been fully transparent about the recent changes. They are even questioning the rationale for ending numerous high-level PVM strategies.

What better way to sneak a Nerf in? Ride the “high” of a new combat skill being released and secretly throw in a few random big nerfs in hopes that nobody notices or cares because they’re too focused on Necro.

Gamers have noted that the modifications to the critical hit and the unbalanced nerfs to ‘Overload’ impact all the combat skills and decrease hit chances against high-level slayer monsters.

Some even claim that they have never witnessed multiple nerfs being introduced simultaneously to the game. And understandably those affected have taken to web forums to express their concerns.

Official word

The developer has apologized for the lack of communication. They believed that the invisible buffs or debuffs were not good for the game or for the players who were not well aware of their effects.

And as a result, they eliminated the potion stat boost. Jagex claims that it will be reverting these modifications and conducting a more thorough investigation on how to better implement them.
