New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 25, 2020) follows:

Roblox is a virtual gaming platform available to download from the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store, where users can play millions of games with friends, chat with them, and even design their own game.

One of the best things about this virtual gaming platform is that it is available across platforms like PC, mobile devices, Xbox One, etc. meaning that you can play any game with your friends, anytime, anywhere.

However, a new bug has been reported by several users of Roblox. This bug is associated with the chat option of this virtual gaming platform.

Going by the user reports, they are unable to send messages using the chatbox as sometimes the enter key does not respond or does nothing, and sometimes the cursor vanishes making it difficult to type in the chat box.

Moreover, one thing is common in all the user reports that this issue started creeping up on Chromebooks that are running the latest version of the ChromeOS.

Check out some of the other user reports below:

After I updated my chromebook to the latest OS, I can’t chat on roblox..
I tried to talk on roblox games after I updated my OS (cuz it wasn’t working before) and now I can’t even talk…. though I can move.

ROBLOX chat doesn’t work anymore
I’ve tried to join multiple games to see if I’m muted or something. I’ve also pressed every single button to test what button sends the text, nothing pops up in the chat and the text doesn’t leave the bar.

roblox issue 2

A friend of me called genuisfighter12 has a problem where the chat in-game is not working properly, he can see the chat, write into the textbox, but as soon as he sends it, it just disappears.
I have tried to replicate the bug with my own Acer Chromebook R3, but is unable to replicate and everything works fine for me.
We also checked his chat settings and it was the same as for me.

The bug started about 2 weeks ago.

His app-version is 2.422.387564 and updated February 27. 2020

Chrome OS version is 80.0.3987.137 (Official build) (64-bit)

His computer is a Samsung Chromebook 2

reblox chromeos issue

Such user reports regarding the Roblox chat bug on ChromeOS can be found on Reddit and Google’s community page. Matter of fact, one of the users has already contacted and made Roblox aware of this issue.

In response, Roblox in an email stated that they have informed the dedicated team for fixing this issue and a follow up would be made as soon as possible.

It is unclear whether the latest update of ChromeOS or Roblox itself needs to be blamed for this issue since there is no official response from either side on this matter.

Until something official comes up, all we can do is wait and hope that either Google or Roblox takes charge and comes up with a solution for this bug that has affected several users.

Update 1 (November 03, 2021)

12:19 pm (IST): New reports surfacing from Roblox users indicate that there might be an issue with the platform’s chat feature.

Apparently, the Chat is getting delayed for many users while others report that for some reason, random words are being filtered and flagged because the system thinks they are abusive words.

Above is a video that shows part of the problem being faced by users. We still don’t have an official acknowledgment so stay tuned for that and more.
