Remnant 2 ‘failed to join session’ error on PS5

Developed by Gunfire Games, Remnant 2 is the direct sequel to “Remnant: From the Ashes.” This latest entry in the Remnant franchise is a step toward the future for the IP, introducing many new-age features like updated visuals, multiplayer, and more.

Unfortunately, new reports suggest that when attempting to join private lobbies with friends, players are greeted with an error message, ‘failed to join session.’ This issue is allegedly mostly affecting the PS5 platform.

Workarounds and acknowledgments

The official support team has shared that they are aware of the issue and working on a solution.

Other than this fix, there are some other workarounds shared by the users:

  1. Switching Play Mode: Some players have reported success by exiting back to the previous menu, sliding “Play Game” to “Public” (or toggling it off and on again if already selected), and then attempting to join a game again.
  2. Restarting the Game or PS5: A simple restart of the game or the PS5 has resolved connectivity issues for some players.
  3. Checking Network Connection: Ensuring a stable and reliable network connection is essential for smooth multiplayer experiences. Players should verify their internet connection and consider troubleshooting any network issues that may be affecting their ability to join sessions.

Although the issue has been acknowledged, there hasn’t been any official statement about the release date of the fix.
