Realme will soon begin rolling out the stable version of Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11, tagging along a bunch of new features and improvements over the outgoing Android 10-based Realme UI 1.0.

In fact, select Realme devices have already switched their allegiance to the latest skin in town, albeit in the testing phase.

In total, the Oppo subsidiary is set to upgrade more than 20 devices to the latest Android OS, so much for a smartphone vendor that has less than three years in the business.

The likes of Realme X50 Pro, Realme 7 Pro and Realme Narzo 20 are already aboard the new ship, with the latter the latest in the lot to bag the new Realme UI 2.0 firmware.

As part of the updated software, Realme, through its weekly community FAQ, has confirmed that all eligible devices will get support for Ultra Power Saving mode regardless of the display technology.

The company has also confirmed a pair new system fonts will be added to Realme UI 2.0 features. Even better is that the Android 11-based firmware will let users download and customize more fonts.

Q. Will the Ultra Power Saving mode come to all realme devices which will upgrade to realme UI 2.0?

A. Yes, this mode will come to all devices with realme UI 2.0 – regardless of the display technology.

Q. Will realme UI 2.0 or later feature a whole new system font?

A. Yes, realme UI 2.0 comes with 2 different system fonts to choose from. Additionally more fonts can be downloaded and customized via realme UI 2.0.

As for those eying the option to show the remaining charging time on the lock screen, Realme says this feature will not be part of Realme UI.

Some Realme UI 2.0 beta testers have also voiced their concerns regarding the disappearing charging decimal point when the phone is plugged in, something the company says is normal behavior.

Q. Is realme UI going to show the remaining charging time on the lockscreen?

A. No, there is no plan for this. The reason is that the remaining charging time is affected by several variables, including current stability and internal heating. The displayed remaining time is often not accurate, and we prefer to omit it entirely – rather than providing a value that is not exact.

Q. I have been testing realme UI 2.0 and noticed the decimal charging only shows for a short period after plugging in, and then disappears. Is that normal?

A. Yes, this is normal. In order to optimize battery charging accuracy, in realme UI 2.0 the decimal charging shows only for the first 20 seconds after plugging in.

Besides the features above, Realme also says those who wish to manually adjust Eye Comfort feature can do so by sliding the bar and choosing between “cold” and “warm” hues.

Q. Will realme provide the option to manually adjust Eye Comfort with a future update?

A. This is already available. Upon turning on Eye Comfort, you can slide the bar and choose the most suitable hue between “cold” and “warm”.

Since some Realme devices come preinstalled with Google Dialer, availability of call recording support depends on the search giant and not Realme. For devices that have Realme apps, this function is already live.

As expected, though, there are no plans to bring RCS support aboard the company’s Realme Messages app.

Q. Is realme planning to add any call recording or automatic call recording features?

A. Call recording and automatic call recording are already supported in the realme dialer app. As for the Google dialer, such features will be available when Google provides them via an update.

Q. Is a future update going to bring categories and RCS features to the realme Messages app?

A.There is currently no plan, but we will check the user feedback about such features and look into it.

For some reason, though, Realme says the option to use two or more apps in floating window or mini window mode at the same time is not available, at least for now.

Also, the company has promised to bring back the option to Print to PDF that disappeared from the Realme 6 Pro via a future update.

Q. Can we use two or more apps in floating window or mini window mode at the same time?

A. No, this is currently not possible.

Q. I updated my realme 6 Pro and noticed the “Print to PDF” option is missing. Will it be added back?

A. Yes, we are currently testing the “Print to PDF” option to ensure a better integration within the system and will add it back with a future update.

If interested in pseudo base station blocking and how it works, you can check out this story on top of what Realme has to say below:

Q. What is pseudo base station blocking and how does it work?

A. Pseudo base stations (PBS) are ”fake“ cellular base stations employed for malicious and usually illegal purposes – hence why they’re behind spam calls and messages. When a pseudo base station is detected during the cellular search procedure, our Harassment & Fraud Prevention feature will blacklist this base station and ignore messages and calls coming from it.

As noted at the beginning, Realme UI 2.0 features will soon be live for eligible devices, something we will be keeping an eye on to bring you the latest happenings as and when we get them, so stay tuned.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
