In a short span of time, Realme has gained a massive fan-following in certain regions such as India. Thanks to its aggressive pricing tactics, phone buyers can get good hardware without burning a hole through their wallets.

The company has released several smartphones this year including the flagship, Realme X50 Pro, Realme 7 series, Realme Narzo 20 series, Realme 6 series, and many more.

All these aforementioned smartphones are also expected to pick up the update to Android 11 which comes with the company’s in-house custom skin dubbed Realme UI 2.0.

Matter of fact, the flagship Realme X50 Pro has already bagged the stable Realme UI 2.0 software update. Apart from that, the Realme 7 Pro and Narzo 20 have also Android 11 via the Early Access program.

Now, while the Android 11 update is still far for certain models, there has been a new development wherein many users are reporting that they are experiencing proximity sensor issues on their Realme phones.

These issues aren’t occurring on one or two models, instead, users with the Realme 7, Realme 7 Pro, Realme 7i, Narzo 20, Narzo 20 Pro, Narzo 10, Realme X3, Realme 5s, Realme 6, and Realme 6 Pro appear to have the same problem.

We’ve shared some user reports below for reference:

I think there is issue in proximity sensor, it just doesn’t keep the phone’s screen off while on call. (Source)

As you can see, most users claim that the proximity sensor does not work while making phone calls. And while it may seem to be an issue with the Phone app itself at first, that isn’t the case.

A couple of users have also run some tests to check whether the proximity sensor is working or not and it seems that there’s an error that’s preventing the sensor from functioning.

Since the issue is affecting multiple Realme smartphones, it’s likely that this is the result of a software bug rather than hardware failure.

Furthermore, according to some users, rebooting the phone usually fixes the issue, although it may stop working again and you’ll have to restart the device as and when the sensor stops functioning.

Unfortunately, Realme has not acknowledged the problem yet in an official capacity meaning that it may take some time before the bug is patched on all devices.

We will continue to track all developments related to the proximity sensor issues on Realme phones and will post an update once new details surface or if the company shares any details on the matter.

In the meantime, you can also check out our dedicated tracker to know all about the bugs and issues that come with the Realme UI 2.0 update, irrespective of the smartphone model.
