[Updated] Pokemon Unite reduced EXP bug (unable to level up Pokemon) to be fixed with May 6 update, confirms support

Developed by TiMi Studio Group and published by The Pokemon Company, Pokemon Unite is a MOBA game that was released in September of 2021 for Android and iOS.

Ever since its release, the 5v5 game has generated more than $1.49 million worldwide via in-app purchases.

However, issues such as Error Code: 1-5-1200 Log-in failed and unfair matchmaking have negatively affected the gameplay experience for some.

And now, Pokemon Unite players are complaining about the reduced EXP bug. It is preventing many from leveling up their Pokemon and ultimately losing the match in higher elo.

If you don’t know, the game grants players passive EXP every minute which helps level up the characters, especially support and tanks. The issue seems to have surfaced after a recent update and is putting players at a permanent disadvantage.

Celebrate what? That season 4 ranked is hot garbage compared to the previous seasons? That an exp bug is allowed to exist for a week? That nerfing buddy barrier hurts solo q players who are forced to try and carry every game? I don’t see anything to celebrate.

Cant for the life of me reach masters. Stuck at ultra 3/4 for days. 96 games, 50 percent win rate. Doesn’t matter what I play. Won something like 6 out of 20 games using Greninja and Cinderace. The exp bug is probably most of the reason. Its rough. Losing the first Dread means unless you flip Zap you are pretty much certainly losing. I have seen people level 3 at the first Dread. I have been stuck trying to find something farm just to evolve. Comebacks are just so much more difficult, teams just steamroll you if they get an early initiative.

Thankfully, Pokemon Unite Japan has acknowledged the issue and said they will be fixing the reduced EXP bug in the May 6 update.

We are currently confirming the following problems. -Experience points obtained every second are not acquired at the level immediately before evolution. This bug will be fixed in the 5/6 update. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Since the bug is only affecting Pokemon that evolve, players are advised not to play those until the fix is out. But if you want to, make sure you farm and not engage early game so as to reduce the EXP gap.
