The beloved augmented reality game, Pokemon Go, is under heat as players are reporting that they are not able to log into the game due to an absurd Black Screen issue restricting them from logging in. While the devs are still silent about the issue, we have some workarounds that could offer some peace.
Pokemon Go Black Screen issue
Pokemon Go is a popular augmented reality mobile game developed and published by Niantic. In the game, players can catch, train, and battle virtual creatures called Pokemon, which appear on their mobile device screens as if they exist in the real world.
According to the latest reports, players are not able to log into the game, as whenever they try to start up the game, they are greeted with a black screen. This issue has been witnessed by the players for quite some time.
I stay pretty positive about @PokemonGoApp and @NianticHelp usually. But when stuff like this keeps happening, it's really frustrating. I don't know if it's just my phone or an android thing. It just loads into a black screen. It takes 4 or 5 times sometimes to get into the… pic.twitter.com/S7VrRXMXEd

There are no solid reasons as to why this issue is present in the game, but according to the reports, it takes quite many restarts before the black screen dissipates and the player gets to access their game. The issue is witnessed on both Android and iOS.
How to fix it?
While there is no official information, here are some common reasons why this issue occurs:
- Accumulation of cache: Regular and excessive gaming results in cache build-up, the majority of which consists of corrupt files.
- User settings: Custom settings and preferences on your phone, such as power-saving mode, etc., might cause the issue.
- App problems: This issue arises when users download apk from fake websites, etc.
To fix the black screen issue, players can try the following methods:
- Force quit the app.
- Clear the app’s cache (Android users).
- Turn off GPS. Log into the game and turn on the GPS once in the game.
- Upgrade to the latest version.
- Uninstall and reinstall Pokemon Go.
If you are using an iOS device, you can also try the following:
- Delete the app from your device.
- Reinstall the app from the App Store.
- Use your login information. Hopefully, all of your Pokemon will be transferred to your trainer account.
If the player is using an Android device and does not see the force quit option in the multitasking panel, they can try going to “Storage > Apps > Pokemon Go > Force Stop.”
